The constellation behind this stele
Taurus — The Bull
A zodiac constellation of the winter sky, visible November through April. Its principal star Aldebaran — an orange giant about 65 light-years away — marks the bull's eye.
Taurus contains two of the best-known open star clusters: the Pleiades (M45, the Seven Sisters) and the Hyades, which form the V-shaped face. The constellation also hosts the Crab Nebula — the remnant of a supernova whose explosion was recorded by Chinese astronomers in 1054.
