About
A family workshop
in Welzheim.
Eichenstelen have been made in Uli Finke's workshop since 2010. What began as the idea of a garden designer is today a small workshop — supported by Gabi and gradually being taken on by the next generation.
Family

As a garden designer, I wanted to give gardens a personal touch — especially in the grey months. That question led to the first Eichenstele in 2010. Today my light catchers stand in gardens across Europe, in the United States and in Australia.

My husband and I have been married for over 40 years — plenty of ideas come and go. The Eichenstele stayed. I help Uli set the glass pieces. Hence the title ;)
TODO: Daniel's statement — what excites him about the Stele, what he brings, how he helps shape the next phase.
TODO: Tobias's statement — what excites him about the Stele, what he brings, how he helps shape the next phase.
Workshop & Welzheim
In the Swabian Forest,
a few hundred metres between the steps.
The workshop is in Welzheim, in the heart of the Swabian Forest. The oak comes from the woods nearby. The windows are routed a few hundred metres away at the Hildenbrand joinery — a small connection that has held for years.
Anyone who would like to see the steles in person is warmly welcome by appointment.

Family business
An idea that stays in the family.
What Uli began as an idea in his workshop in 2010 is being handed on step by step. Daniel and Tobias are gradually joining in — the steles stay in the family, the craft stays in the workshop.
What matters to us
Four things we hold on to.
Handcrafted
Each stele is made one by one in the workshop — no series production, no machine that does it all.
Regional
Oak from the Swabian Forest, windows routed at Hildenbrand a few hundred metres down the road.
Durability
Solid oak with a UV oil finish. Steles that stay outside all year round — and gradually settle into a quiet patina.
Family
What Uli began in 2010 is being handed on, piece by piece, to the next generation.
