Carina — The Keel
A Southern Hemisphere constellation; sits just below the horizon when seen from Central Europe. Its principal star Canopus is the second-brightest star in the night sky after Sirius, about 310 light-years away. The constellation contains the Carina Nebula, a vast stellar nursery that hosts the unstable supergiant Eta Carinae.
