The constellation behind this stele
Gemini — The Twins
A zodiac constellation, visible November through April in the Northern Hemisphere evening sky. Its two principal stars, Castor and Pollux, are named after the twin brothers of Greek mythology. Pollux is an orange giant about 34 light-years away; Castor turns out under a telescope to be a system of six stars.
Mid-December brings one of the year's most productive meteor showers — the Geminids — which appears to radiate from this constellation.
