Sagittarius — The Archer
A zodiac constellation in the southern summer Milky Way, visible low in the southern sky from Central Europe between June and September. Eight brighter stars form the distinctive 'Teapot' asterism.
The centre of our galaxy lies in the direction of Sagittarius, about 26,000 light-years away — home to the supermassive black hole Sagittarius A*. Because we look here straight into the plane of the Milky Way, the constellation contains an unusually high density of nebulae and star clusters.
