The constellation behind this stele
Linea — The Line
Unlike the figurative constellations, Linea follows a purely geometric form. Connecting lines between stars are among the oldest tools of astronomy: Hipparchus drew them already in the second century BCE to record positions and recognise patterns.
The modern division of the sky into 88 constellations was established in 1922 by the International Astronomical Union — a grid of lines covering the entire celestial sphere without gaps.
